The new season has provided a tough start for the Yellows so far with wins proving hard to come by for both our First and Reserve teams in the West Cheshire League.

Our Firsts made the trip to Prescot Cables Reserves a week ago looking to register our first three point haul of the season. A terrific performance gave us the elusive win with fine goals from debutante striker Max Giani and a winner from young full back Tyler Wilkinson.

The win was built on a strong team effort with our central defenders nullifying the attacking threat from Cables. Man of Match Luke Naylor put on a superb show, and out of position striker Dan O'Halloran partnering him also contributed a quality effort.

Following this victory confidence was high in the camp and the lads were quickly back in action in a midweek cracker at Gayton Park as we welcomed defending League Champions Mersey Royal.

A patchy first half showing and individual errors saw us go in two goals down at half time. Some strong words during the break led to a vastly improved performance in the second period, though we didn't receive the rewards we deserved after outplaying our visitors for long periods.

The game finished 2–0 to the Royal, but the positives were there for all to see and we look forward to our next game at home this Saturday as we welcome Capenhurst Villa to Gayton Park. Kick off is at 3pm.

Our Reserve Team have also stuttered at the start of the season with some good performances failing to bring a win so far, but with recent defeats to Neston Nomads and Higher Bebington Kelma being only by a one goal margin we were keen to build on that on Saturday when Groves were the visitors to Heswall.

An early goal from new signing Jordan Chwalko put us on our way, but a late leveller from Groves saw the points shared.

Next up for the Reserves is a tough trip to South Liverpool 3rds on Saturday, but it goes without saying they'll be fired up to bring the points back home.
