Autism Together has launched two very worthwhile seasonal events to help raise vital funds for the people it supports.

The Bromborough-based charity is asking people to do something a little different this December by joining its 12 Miles Of Christmas challenge, getting people fit and fundraising in the build up to Christmas 2021.

The charity, which supports over 400 autistic adults at locations across Merseyside, West Cheshire and North Wales, is calling on people of all ages and abilities from across the region to take part in this fun challenge.

Chloe Jones, from the Autism Together Fundraising Team, said: "We're asking people to walk, run, bike, swim, or any other exercise they choose, for 1 mile a day across the first 12 days of December.

"You can do this at your own pace and time, and in an environment that suits you.

"By gathering sponsorship from friends and family, colleagues and classmates, you will be raising vital funds for the people we support and doing a little bit of exercise before we over-indulge at Christmas time."

Everyone that takes part and raises at least £50 will receive a specially made Autism Together snowflake to hang on their Christmas tree, along with a certificate.

This year Autism Together is also offering a Virtual Grotto experience, working with Santa Claus himself to send personalised video messages from the big man or one of his elves, for families to enjoy this Christmas.

Chloe explained: "Our videos can be personalised to amaze and delight your loved ones, and we offer a fully autism-friendly experience too. You can choose to have the background Christmas lights turned off, for example, and we can use Makaton signing or visual structure to aid communication in the video.

"When you book your video we will ask you questions about things you would like us to mention to personalise the video, like a favourite TV programme, name of a school the person attends, presents they might like this year… it's up to you.

"Our Virtual Grotto experience is available to book now for both adults and children to enjoy, and sent out to anyone and anywhere in the world to be watched and treasured forever."
