Job Purpose

Provide a Physiotherapy Musculoskeletal Assessment and Treatment Service for Officers and Staff. Undertaking comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of employees, formulating treatment programmes, ensuring effective treatment and advice to achieve a timely discharge.

Key Responsibilities

- Triage daily, referrals to the Occupational Health Physiotherapy Service.

- Undertake clinical assessments to determine an employees' fitness for work and develop a comprehensive, written, evidence-based treatment plan, for use by the wider occupational health team as appropriate for each case.

- Undertake specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment as an autonomous practitioner.

- Accept, assess, plan, undertake, complete and/or discontinue physiotherapy interventions.

- Work as a physiotherapy practitioner within the multidisciplinary occupational health and wellbeing Team.

- Provide a proactive service in terms of prevention and management of Musculoskeletal conditions.

- Participate in health promotion activities and events across force locations.

- Provide clinically appropriate specialist advice and guidance to line managers to support wellbeing in the workplace.

- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation in accordance with legal, professional, and organisational requirements.

Knowledge & Experience

- Must be registered, and maintain registration, with the Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC).

- Must have a degree or an accelerated postgraduate degree course in physiotherapy approved by the HCPC together with a level of competence gained through working as a staff grade physiotherapist through a relevant healthcare service.

- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

- Have knowledge of the relationship between Musculoskeletal conditions and the workplace and risk factors for these conditions.

- Be able to demonstrate the confidence to take independent action.

- Must demonstrate knowledge of MDT working and the role of a physiotherapist within an MDT wellbeing team.

- Experience of working within an occupational health unit would be desirable.

- Passionate about proactive health promotion and the need to encourage an increase in physical activity within the workplace.

- Able to demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and written, to all levels of management and staff. Experience of maintaining strict confidentiality, using tact and diplomacy where applicable.

- Produce accurate written information and demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.

- Experience of updating and maintaining electronic records accurately.

- Working with minimal supervision, organising and prioritising own workload.

- Working to deadlines and tight timescales within a busy environment.
