Heswall Football Club is an important part of the fabric of the local community and is always eager to attract new faces to get involved with grassroots football - and welcome back old ones.

On October 30 the club is hosting a Legends Night at its Gayton Park ground, but this is not the sort of event that welcomes well known past professional players to share a few anecdotes, but one that seeks instead the local legends who, over the years, have helped build a club like Heswall and keep it going.

Heswall FC Chairman, Robbie Matthews, said: "It starts at 7pm and there's an open invitation to anyone who has ever been involved with our club over the years - former players, managers, committee members or indeed supporters, you're all very much welcome.

"If you have ever been a part of our great club then please come along, have a drink, share your stories from days gone by and enjoy the craic.

"We are hugely appreciative of those who went before us and laid the foundations for Heswall FC, so please come along and get stuck in.

"We're really looking forward to seeing you."
