Last week we went to see a movie called 'Dream Horse' (cert: PG). It's based on the true story of the members of a small, down at heel Welsh community who formed a syndicate with the aim of breeding a racing champion. It's not the greatest film ever made, but it's warm, touching, funny and has the natural hook of equine and human underdogs trying to win against all the odds. 'Dream Horse' is well worth the price of admission and two hours of your life. The way it's told, the tale of the horse called Dream Alliance will enable you to leave the cinema feeling uplifted. I won't spoil the ending, but, just like the American horse racing movie 'Seabiscuit', 'Dream Horse' reveals how animals have the power to mend broken human lives, and may even have to be broken themselves on the road to glory. Why am I telling you this? Because if you have a sudden urge to breed and race a champion gee-gee, then this smallholding style property on Irby Road, Pensby, might be right up your race course. On the market with Hunters Heswall, and inviting offers over £800,000, the estate agency describes the place like this: "A superb smallholding-style opportunity, which would be appealing to a large audience including the equestrian market as well as those seeking a house to accommodate humans, along with all manner of four legged and feathered family members. "The current owners have not only made improvements to the land, but have also extended the principal house with accommodation briefly comprising; hall, snug, lounge, large living kitchen, utility and WC, first floor landing, four bedrooms two with ensuite shower rooms and main house bathroom. "Externally the property is set well back off Irby Road and is accessed by a long gated driveway with extensive parking and access to a double garage. The land comprises large paddocks, menage, stabling, further outbuildings, natural pond plus a two bedroom mobile home with hot tub. "To the side of the property there is a good size lawned garden area which further extends to a large menage, usable two bedroom mobile home and hot tub. Further to this there are three stables and a foaling stable barn plus various storage sheds and a second large paddock to rear." Anyone out there aiming to raise a horse that can win the National?
