My hopes for a three win weekend for Heswall FC were dashed on Saturday as our three West Cheshire teams suffered defeat.

The First Team was up against runaway league leaders FC Bootle St Edmunds at Gayton Park, going down 1–0 in a tough game.

Despite plenty of huffing and puffing, chances were at a premium, and sadly a sound defensive performance from the visitors enabled their win.

The Reserve Team recorded its first loss of the season in a 1–0 reverse at Runcorn Sports - a penalty brought a fine run to an end, and the Runcorn Sports victory enabled our hosts to replace us at the top of the division.

In the youth division, away to Bootle FC, Heswall Youth's failure to convert a number of chances, and some sharp finishing by the Bootle lads gave them the points with a 3-1 victory. Harvey Forster scored Heswall's goal.

All three teams have an early opportunity to get back to winning ways with midweek games starting on Monday.

The Youth Team entertains Vauxhall Motors, the First Team faces local rivals Neston Nomads on Tuesday, and Marshalls FC Reserves are the visitors facing our Reserves on Wednesday evening. All games kick off at 6.30pm.

Regrettably we have been informed by the Football Association that supporters cannot be permitted to watch games at Gayton Park until May 17th at the earliest.

We look forward to the day we can welcome back our great fans, but in the interests of public safety we are more than happy to play our part.
