As we approach the half term break, parents and guardians in Wirral are being urged to take advantage of the school holidays and get their children, aged 5-17 vaccinated against COVID-19.

Vaccinations can help reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus within schools and colleges and reduce the amount of time it takes to recover. To maximise children's learning time, local children and families can grab a jab at a number of walk-in sites across the borough during the half term break.

Julie Webster, Wirral's Director of Public Health said:"Whilst I am sure that young people and their parents or guardians are looking forward to enjoying a well-deserved break at half term, we would encourage them to get vaccinated to help keep themselves and their communities safe.

"Having the vaccine is key to protecting everyone from the impact of COVID-19 and will protect their education from further disruption and keep their learning on track."   "Use this half term to get the vaccine for you and your child – it's quick and easy to do, and you can squeeze them in during a family day out".

Working in partnership with Wirral NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, there are a number of Wirral Council sites across the borough that offer quick and easy, on the spot vaccinations. There are bookable and walk-in slots available for all family members aged 5+ to get their first, second and booster COVID-19 vaccine across Wirral this half term.
