With a little over a week to go until the Platinum Ball at Heswall Hall, the venue's bar partner, Blind Pig of Telegraph Road, is using the event to launch its Jubilee Gin Martini.

Created especially for guests at the black tie evening, the cocktail is a variation on Her Majesty's supposed favourite tipple - the Dubonnet Cocktail.

"We can't wait to see what people think of what we've put together," said Matt Whitby of Blind Pig.

Although the exact recipe is being kept under wraps, Matt says the drink will feature strawberry flavoured gin paired with Italian vermouth and lemon juice for balance, and topped with a Pineapple espuma and fresh strawberry.

"We're really looking forward to the big night and the reaction of our guests," Matt added.

The cocktail is inspired by HM's favourite snifter

Central to the event is a three course dinner fit for royalty, courtesy of top local firm and Heswall Hall's new catering partners, Boysenberry.

Guests are set to enjoy marinated feta and griddled watermelon, Coronation stuffed chicken supreme, and Boysenberry's very own Jubilee Pudding featuring layered vanilla sponge with lemon mascarpone cream, lemon curd dressed with amaretti and clementine.

What's more, there'll be a glass of fizz to toast the Queen, along with dancing to a live band and a DJ, and a luxury raffle with a top prize of a diamond necklace.

It's shaping up to be a night to remember.
