In the new, Autumn edition of its helpful and informative newsletter, the Heswall Society points out that, despite COVID restrictions and the impossibility of face to face meetings, new members have stepped forward to enlist.
However, the Society adds that it is always looking for more people with an interest in the future of the town and district to swell its ranks.
The Heswall Society was formed in 1953 'for the public benefit to conserve the parish of Heswall'.
Its aims were to 'stimulate public interest in the area, promote high standards of planning, and secure the preservation, protection, development and improvement of features of historic or public interest'.
Later, it played a prominent role in securing the designation of Conservation Areas for Gayton and Heswall Lower Village, and widened its sphere of influence to the town and district in general.
For almost 70 years the Society has done excellent work on the community's behalf, with a particular emphasis on monitoring and, when necessary, questioning or objecting to planning applications.
