Heswall made famous by shoe SHOCK!
We are indebted to a friend of Heswall Nub News who made contact to ask this question:
"Do you know that Heswall has a loafer?"
At once my hackles rose because, for a moment, I assumed the reader was referring to me.
But no, he followed up by helpfully sending a link to the website of Church's Footwear.
A quick tap and there it was, the Heswall Loafer!
It's not just any old loafer, but a 'penny loafer'.
In-depth research revealed that a penny loafer is basically a slip-on shoe, often known as a slipper in the United States - whereas over here slippers are the terrible things some of us wear in the evenings for years until they become so manky they have to be taken to the green bin on the end of a pair of tongs.
Personally I am a laces kind of a guy. Even now I can recreate the joy I experienced when I first learnt to tie them following careful parental instruction.
I was 27.
Anyways, the Heswall Loafer is made from soft grain calf leather, has hand stitched detail, and a folded top-line (whatever that is) for maximum comfort.
The name 'Penny Loafer' is slightly at odds with reality - a pair will set you back 870 quid - or 87,000 pennies.
But don't worry! Even if you are tempted to make an impulse purchase there is a good reason not to.
They've sold out.
