GRANT AID

With the aim of going some way to address the bruising impact pandemic restrictions continue to have on the hospitality, leisure and retail sector, Wirral Council, its neighbouring local authorities and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, has launched a new grant scheme for those businesses which have so far not been eligible for support.

The Hospitality, Leisure and Retail (Expanded Scheme) opened for applications at 10am on Monday 30 November and will close this coming Friday, 11 December, at 5pm.

The scheme is aimed at retail, hospitality and leisure supply chain businesses and the self-employed, and each business must meet strict eligibility criteria, including:

- being based in the Liverpool City Region and have been trading on or before 11 March 2020

- having not been eligible for or received a grant administered by a local authority from October 2020 onwards

- employing one or more people (a sole director, or self-employed counts as a staff member)

- being able to show the negative impact the restrictions have had on trading

MAKING AN APPLICATION

The Council asks that potential applicants take time to read the guidance information and checklist and gather all necessary documentation to support a claim before beginning the process.
