A £4.1m project creating more than 100 jobs and providing a hugely important service is coming to Wirral.

Exemplar Health Care is building a care home set to support 30 adults on Alfred Road in Seacombe.

The home, called Edgewater, will care for people who need specialist nursing care and rehabilitation following a neuro-disability, brain injury, spinal injury or stroke, or are living with a complex physical disability or mental health condition.

More than 100 jobs are expected to be created ahead of the care home's official opening next summer.

Exemplar Health Care said each bedroom at the home will come with an en-suite wet room, and the building will feature high quality, spacious communal spaces.

A sensory and therapy room will also be on site, as well as landscaped gardens for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Charlotte Lloyd, developments director at Exemplar Health Care, said: "We're pleased to announce we are investing in another specialist care home for the Wirral area.

"This community-based home will provide person-centred care and rehabilitation that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills, and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.

"It is extremely rewarding to be able to support 30 local people with complex health needs, and to provide over 100 stable and local jobs."

Ms Lloyd said the company has further aims in the borough.

She added: "As well as providing employment opportunities, there are plans in place to help Edgewater become part of the local community.

"It's our ambition for Edgewater to be a place where we host community events, and where our residents can be part of the community, whether through work placements, local events or volunteering."
