Job of the Week: Chef de Partie at the Boathouse in Parkgate

By Mark Gorton

29th Jul 2021 | Local Features

On a fine day the Boathouse, right on the Parkgate front, boasts great views across the Dee Estuary to the Welsh Hills and has been there since 1926, though modifications have extended the original structure, including the conservatory which means you can watch bird life on the marshes in between courses if the conversation at your table flags.

The present pub and restaurant began life as the Boathouse Cafe.

It's owned by Hydes, a Salford based brewery with more than 50 pubs divided between managed houses, fully operated by the company, and tenancies which are rented to independent operators.

The Boathouse menu is pretty traditional, good pub food - main courses include a hearty steak with chunky chips, pan fried sea bass fillets, and battered fish, chips and mushy peas.

Naturally there are Hydes beers on offer along with the wine list.

The company is now hiring a Chef de Partie to join the Boathouse kitchen team "in an extremely fast paced site".

The salary is £9.05 to £9.85 per hour.

What the company offers:

- Training packages, to ensure that you are up to speed with the way Hydes does things

- Fantastic career pathways

- 50% discount card on food, for the new Chef de Partie and 6 guests

- Competitive salary

- Statutory paid breaks

- 5.6 weeks holiday entitlement

- Pension plan.

- Free Uniform

"Whether you work full time or part time," says Hydes, "our customers are in your hands. You will be required to oversee the day to day activities of the kitchen at the site. You will be knowledgeable about all the dishes on our menu and how to support the site to turn out mouth-watering dishes with ease. You will produce all starters, mains and desserts, as well as acting as a coach and mentor to any junior staff members. You will have a passion for fresh food, creativity and delivering food to high standards."

The closing date for applications is Wednesday June 2nd.
