On Monday we reported that Wirral Borough Council's planning committee looked set to approve a planning application proposing the demolition of a thatched cottage on Farr Hall Drive so it could be replaced with a two and three storey development comprising six flats.
The century-old cottage sits on the unadopted road and bridleway that is Farr Hall Drive, and was described in a petition mourning its potential loss - that attracted 298 signatures - as a "locally loved landmark".

The replacement of a dwelling house at 22 Farr Hall Drive with six apartments looks as if it will be given the go ahead when Wirral Council's Planning Committee meets on Wednesday evening.
The developers, Hassett Homes, will demolish the existing home on the large corner plot, and build a 2 and 3 storey development with associated parking and landscaped gardens.

A new apartment block will be built in Hoylake despite petitioners arguing it will harm the area "dramatically".
The plan, which will involve the demolition of Sandiways at 46 Hoyle Road, and the building of eight apartments, was passed at last night's meeting of Wirral Council's Planning Committee.

Formally the application is summed up like this: "Change of use from restaurant and bar to a single residential dwelling house with minor external changes and internal alterations."
