The predicted three-month extension of the stamp duty holiday by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak has been warmly welcomed by the property industry, and especially by potential homebuyers who have extra time to take advantage of a tax break that can save them up to £15,000. The suspension of stamp duty - which cuts the bill entirely on properties costing between £125,000 and £500,000 and reduces it on homes costing more than that - was announced last summer and was due to end on March 31st. However, Mr Sunak is understood to have decided to lengthen it for three months - in line with other measures to bolster the economy. Meanwhile, data from Zoopla, the property portal, has revealed increased demand for coastal homes in Britain, with Wirral ranking third in the number of transactions after Sefton and Blackpool. With all this in mind, our choice of home for sale is a two bedroom, end terraced cottage on Banks Road and close to the Heswall shore. Offers of more than £340,000 are invited. The price could seem high at first glance, but a lot of thought, effort and outlay has gone into transforming the available space into a stylish home arranged over three floors - with the top floor double bedroom having views across the Dee Estuary towards the Welsh Hills. The ground floor has been mostly given over to a contemporary open plan space for living, cooking and dining. The living and dining space has a vaulted ceiling, velux windows and patio doors opening to the rear garden. Anyone who finds mowing a lawn one of the most tedious activities known to humankind will be relieved to know that the lush green grass is, in fact, Astroturf. Here there's space to store logs, which is just as well because the lounge features a wood burning stove. On the first floor, the modern shower room is just that, but no bath in the cottage might put off anyone for whom a long soak is part and parcel of wellbeing. On the other hand, if you prefer to chill by taking long walks across an unspoilt part of the world this cottage couldn't be better located. There is off road parking, and that easy to maintain garden might be a bonus - end a day's work and you can sit in it without worrying about all the tending that needs to be done. As you will see from the gallery at the top of the page, this home has style and offers comfort while not demanding much in the way of maintenance and upkeep.
