We may be living in increasingly tough times, but so far the property market appears to be standing firm - though July did see house prices fall slightly for the first time in more than a year.

The average price of a home in the UK was £293,221 last month, down 0.1%, the first decrease since June last year, according to data collated by the bank Halifax.

This drop lowered the annual rate of growth from 12.5% to 11.8%, although our average house price still remains more than £30,000 higher than at the same time last year.

Right now we have to factor in rising interest rates and inflation, though it appears these will make themselves felt further down the line. For now, some of the drivers that fuelled the housing market during the pandemic remain - like cash saved during lockdowns, and remote work enabling people to seek out more rural locations and spacious homes.

Spacious describes this Gayton home - it has five bedrooms and four bathrooms - and is new on the market with estate agency Hewitt Adams of Pensby Road, Heswall.

The house comes with an asking price of £930,000.

Hewitt Adams says: "The property has been painstakingly renovated to a high specification over a number of years by the current owners, and no expense has been spared in creating a wonderful family home with some impressive features such as the Wow Factor open-plan Kitchen Dining Living Room, impressive family lounge with log-burning stove, and an incredible master bedroom suite."

In a nutshell, this is what you will get for your money: entrance hall, family lounge, living room, downstairs WC, the open plan-kitchen, dining and living room, utility room and boot-room / laundry room.

Upstairs three of the five bedrooms have en-suites. The master bedroom boasts an impressive dressing room and open-plan en-suite. The family bathroom is also on this level.

Outside, there's a generous driveway, with a detached garage, while the large gardens wrap around the home with lawns and patio areas.

CCTV and an alarm system are installed.
