On a fine day the Boathouse, right on the Parkgate front, boasts great views across the Dee Estuary to the Welsh Hills and has been there since 1926, though modifications have extended the original structure, including the conservatory which means you can watch bird life on the marshes in between courses if the conversation at your table flags.

The present pub and restaurant began life as the Boathouse Cafe.

Merseyside Police has revealed that the baby boy whose body was found at Brackenwood golf course in January will be laid to rest today.

The boy will be buried following a private service at Landican cemetery. As the service and burial is private, members of the public are asked not to attend.

The window for subscriptions to Wirral Council's garden waste collection service remains open for another couple of weeks, but if you want to set and pay by direct debit you need to get your skates on - the closing date to do that is the end of May.
