A huge decision on whether or not Wirral Council will set up new car parking charges across the borough is set to be made next week.
The issue has become highly controversial since the authority committed to making £1m from charging at several off-street and coastal car parks which are currently free in its March budget, as well as raising charges in some areas.

A plan to build more than 90 homes on greenbelt land in Hoylake has been thrown out by a planning inspector.
Last year, Graeme McGaffney, assisted by Grimster Planning, submitted to Wirral Council a proposal for up to 61 assisted living apartments and up to 30 care bungalows on land off Carr Lane.

A pilot project will see on-street electric vehicle charging points introduced in Wirral for the first time.
Wirral Council is about to start work on installing 40 new charging points in parts of Hoylake and Wallasey to make it easier for owners of electric or hybrid vehicles to stay charged up and to encourage more people to consider moving away from petrol and diesel.

Detectives investigating the discovery of the body of a baby boy on Brackenwood golf course in Bebington six months ago are working with the National Crime Agency to examine DNA databases in a bid to locate his next of kin.
The full-term baby boy was found at 4.25pm on Friday 29th January in a wooded area at the side of a footpath close to the 16th green of the course in Bracken Lane. A post-mortem to establish the cause of death proved inconclusive.
