Hoylake RNLI reports that its hovercraft 'Hurley Spirit', was requested to launch by the UK Coastguard on Thursday afternoon just gone.

At 16:31 the RNLI volunteer crew launched the hovercraft following reports of people in difficulty in the water, having been swept out by the outgoing tide around Hilbre. The hovercraft made best speed to the casualties' reported location.

vs Groves FC

On Monday evening, our reserve team welcomed Groves FC to Gayton Park for the first time as our guests competed in the West Cheshire League for the first time. The Yellows started well and 2 goals from skipper Nathan Johnstone and an own goal put us 3–0 up at half time. The Groves manager had the Midas touch with his half time team talk, and they came out a different side in the second half, scoring 2 goals to get themselves right back in the game. As play went into the 96th minute, a sweeping free kick from the far side found its way in to draw the Ellesmere Port side level with virtually the last kick of the match.

How the scrapped resort might have been laid out

Wirral Council has agreed to settle a dispute with the Nicklaus Joint Venture Group (NJVG) over the authority's decision not to proceed with financing of a proposed golf resort development in Hoylake.

The golf resort proposal dates back to 2008 when the Council's Cabinet approved the issue of a prospectus seeking a potential developer for a world class golf resort in Hoylake. Work continued on the project and the scheme was relaunched in 2012.
