On Saturday our First Team welcomed the Litherland Remyca Development side to Gayton Park. A comfortable 4–0 win with goals from Scott Connolly, Jack Darlington, Jason Bull and Joe Ford left us with two league games to play - knowing that two more wins will bring promotion back to Division 1.

The lads are well aware there is a lot of hard work ahead, with tough games at home to Rainhill Town and, on the last day, away to South Sefton Borough.

They are both good sides and we will have to be at our best, but the future is firmly in our hands and we will give everything to achieve our goal.

On a sodden and miserable Bank Holiday Monday, the First Team travelled to Vauxhall's Reserves in the Wirral District Senior Cup and, after going one up, sadly Jack Sharpe, a member of our opponents' coaching staff, was taken seriously ill, resulting in the game being abandoned. It was a decision we support completely, and we send our best wishes to Jack and hope to see him back in the dugout soon.

In the Wirral District Amateur Cup, the Reserves faced local side Poulton Royal Reserves. Injuries to two of our goalkeepers forced manager Nathan Brooks into naming defender Lewis Boardman in goal.

A cat-like performance from Lewis and goals from Jason Bull, Dan O'Halloran, skipper Nathan Johnston, and two from Conor Egan gave us a comfortable 5–0 win.

We move on to the semi final on May 17th away to St Saviours at Levers Playing Fields. It's sure to be a tough game against a very good side, but it's an opportunity to get to a final and our lads will be determined to keep up their challenge for silverware.

Our Youth Team are in action tonight against Mossley Hill Athletic at Gayton Park in the Youth Plate cup competition, though a pitch inspection and possible postponement are likely given the terrible conditions.

This week we will be announcing the Heswall FC Player of the Month for April. If any local business wishes to sponsor the award for just £30 then please contact me, Chairman Robbie Matthews, via email on [email protected].

Your company name will go on the award, we will publicise it on social media, and the winner, to whom the sponsor will be invited to present the award, will be revealed here Heswall Nub News.
