Heswall Football Club was the delighted host of a Charity Fundraising Game on Wednesday evening as #TeamDDB faced the UTS Foundation in aid of the Bowel Cancer Awareness Charity.

A large crowd including lots of youngsters - and a few dogs - arrived to support a great effort by both teams, and enjoyed the game at a sun drenched Gayton Park.

Plenty of fundraising went on, including the sale of delightful cakes made by a very talented and very generous young person to whom the club and charity offer sincere thanks.

Heswall based Revolution 4, the local award winning Digital Marketing Agency, offered their support and expertise to increase awareness of the event and promote the cause to great effect.

Heswall FC Chairman, Robbie Matthews commented: "For Heswall FC to be able to support such a worthwhile cause and a great event was both a huge honour for us and something we hope to do again.

"Organiser Danny De Brabander has done a great job in bringing so many people together to raise vital funds for the cause, and we were made up to be in a position to help.

"Danny's story is inspiring and shows what can be done to support causes like this one when people pull together. We wish him all the best and hope we can support further in the future."

Organiser Danny, who is living with cancer, was thrilled by the evening and said: "Wow! What can we say? What a truly unbelievable evening it was for the 2nd #BowelCancerAwareness game at Heswall FC.

"An amazing turnout, two great teams, the sun was shining, and a community once again coming together!"

Heswall Nub News can report that #TeamDDB won a hard fought game 3-2 and lifted the new Bowel Cancer Awareness Cup.

Early indications are that over £2,500 has been raised from the event for The UTS Foundation.

Danny De Brabander added: "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who supported the game, those who helped organise it, and the sponsors.

"The support that was given was truly humbling, and we are so thankful for an emotional night that achieved so much."
