This week we asked what is to become of Heswall police station, and if the community, following in the footsteps of our neighbours in West Kirby and Hoylake, might be able to harness local power to try to make something special happen.
In Hoylake, with substantial support from the government's Coastal Communities Fund, the Victorian former town hall will become the Beacon Arts Village; while in West Kirby, the old Unitarian Church is home to the town's Arts Centre.
This year, golfers from across the country can celebrate the 2023 return of The Open to Royal Liverpool - by playing the new Championship course before the world's greatest players.

Around 30 asylum seekers housed in Hoylake were left outside in the cold yesterday evening after a contract dispute.
Since last May, asylum seekers have been staying at a Holiday Inn Express located on King's Gap.

Over 1000 residents and businesses in West Kirby have taken part in a landmark survey on the town's future.
The survey was commissioned by One West Kirby, a new Community Interest Company set up by a group of local residents.
In an act of mindless vandalism, the brass map on the viewing point at the top of Thurstaston Hill has been badly damaged.
The damage came to light this morning.

In 2011 Heswall Hall became the first Community Hall in Wirral to be transferred from local authority control to that of a Community Trust.
A decade later, closed by the pandemic, it is an entirely self-funding - and sorely missed - focal point where young and old from the Heswall district can gather for all manner of reasons.

On her 25th birthday, Claudia Marsh from Heswall died of COVID-19 in The Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
It is clear that Claudia, a recently qualified teacher, was a very special young woman.

Residents are up in arms about a plan to close three of Wirral's four public golf courses.
The courses at Arrowe Park, Brackenwood, in Bebington, and The Warren, in Wallasey, could close as Wirral Council looks for ways of saving money to address a £16.5m shortfall in its budget.
