Faces young and old illuminated by both twinkling lights and the glowing inner spirit of Christmas!
Christmas and New Year good tidings and gratitude go to everyone who made it possible for Heswall's Tesco to give away 4,157 meals to people in need during these tough pandemic times.
Across the country, the Tesco Food Collection gathered together enough foodstuffs to provide more than one million meals. These were distributed by the Trussell Trust and FareShare charities.

Yesterday Heswall Nub News reported from Greasby Library where a long queue of people eager to take a symptom free COVID-19 test had formed.
Most wanted to be checked out before Christmas Day get togethers, and were prepared to wait two and a half hours.

So the Liverpool City Region, which includes Wirral, will remain in Tier 2 after Christmas Day, while Cheshire and Warrington moves into Tier 3 - which means it is possible to drive a couple of minutes from Heswall centre and enter another Tier and its tighter restrictions, and vice versa.
The changes come into effect at one minute past midnight on Boxing Day.

Two young sisters from Heswall have been chosen from more than a hundred children to feature in a national charity calendar which shines a light on the unique experiences of military children during the last twelve months.
Five-year-old Evelyn Brown and her two-year-old sister Livi appear as the July entry in the Little Troopers 'Through Our Eyes' 2021 charity calendar.
There has been a noticeable rise in Wirral's COVID-19 weekly infection rate, according to the latest statistics.
However, the peninsula lags some distance behind the country's coronavirus hotspots in London and the South East.

There were extraordinary but at the same time heartwarming scenes at Greasby Library this morning.
The Library is our nearest COVID-19 testing centre, where people displaying no symptoms can be checked out.
Wirral Council has teamed up with fuel poverty charity Fuel Bank Foundation (FBF) to help families struggling to pay for fuel this winter.
The Council has allocated £100,000 towards the project from Wirral's £1.2million Covid Winter Grant Fund, which is part of a Government programme to help ensure children, families and vulnerable individuals do not go hungry or without utilities and other essential items.

Matt Ashton, Liverpool's Director of Public Health, has appealed to anyone who has traveled north from London or the South East for Christmas to be tested as soon as possible for COVID-19.
Against the background of the new strain of the virus, which appears to be 70% more transmissible than the original, and in the knowledge that some residents of hot spot areas either came north some days ago, or even yesterday to beat the newly imposed Tier 4 deadline, Matt is imploring people to be tested in order to limit any spread.
