Swimming pools, gyms and tennis centres are set to reopen in Wirral next month, as COVID restrictions are gradually eased.

Wirral Council is currently preparing to open several of its leisure facilities from Monday, April 12, the next stage of the government's roadmap out of lockdown.

Wirral Leisure services reopening on April 12:

- Swimming at Europa Pools, West Kirby and Guinea Gap Leisure Centres

- Gyms at Bidston Tennis Centre, West Kirby and Guinea Gap Leisure Centres

- Indoor tennis at Bidston Tennis Centre

At all of the council's leisure services, activities must still be booked in advance.

Pre-booking and payment is essential, either on a pay and play basis or with an Invigor8 membership.

Bookings for swimming and gyms can be made from Wednesday, April 7, if the government gives the go ahead for the next stage of its roadmap.

To make a booking, visit Wirral Leisure online or call on 0151 606 2010.

Phone lines are operated on Monday-Thursday from 9am-7pm, Friday from 9am-5pm and Saturday-Sunday from 9am-3pm.

More information can be found here.

Wirral Council says it is working towards opening other leisure facilities from May 17 in line with the roadmap.

However, it may not be possible to reopen all facilities as many of the authority's employees, including leisure staff, are working in other services to support the council's COVID-19 response.

A number of key leisure buildings, including The Oval, Leasowe and Woodchurch, are also operating as vaccination centres, testing sites and support services, meaning that not all activities at these sites will resume straight away.
