Just when you thought 'I need to take all the overflow garden waste to the tip - but haven't got any fuel in the car to get me there,' some good news.

Brown garden waste bin collections will return to the usual fortnightly schedule from today.

For those signed up to garden waste service, cancelled collections will be added to the end of this year's subscription period. Further details will be provided to subscribers nearer the time.

Residents with a garden waste bin should visit the council's website to find out when their next collection date will be as they revert to the usual fortnightly schedule.

The temporary move to four-weekly collections was due to high levels of absence among bin staff at Biffa, Wirral's waste contractor, and a shortage of licenced drivers.
