Three teenagers have appeared in court charged in connection with assaults and an attempted robbery over the weekend.

At around 11am on Saturday it was reported that a shopkeeper was assaulted by two males in Grove Park Convenience Store in Hoylake. The males made off from the scene.

At around 1.30pm police received a report that a female was approached by a group of three males who assaulted her on the Cinder Path, off Drummond Road.

Two of the male suspects were reported to be similar to the suspects in the assault at Grove Park Convenience Store.

It was further reported that the group of males had attempted to steal a pedal bike and verbally abused people on the path.

Patrols attended and, following CCTV enquiries, detained and arrested two males, aged 14 and 16, near West Kirkby train station.

Following an investigation, a third male, aged 15, was arrested at an address on Gresford Avenue. The address was searched and a knife was recovered.

All three males were taken into custody and questioned by police.

A 16-year-old from Upton, a 15-year-old from Hoylake and a 14-year-old from Newton were charged with attempted robbery, and two Section 4 public order offences.

The 15-year-old was also charged with Section 18 Assault and Possession of a bladed article.

Earlier today all three appeared in Merseyside Youth Remand Court where the 16 and 14 year-old were bailed. The 15 year-old was remanded in custody.
