The relocation of Nova restaurant from Pensby Road to its new home on Telegraph Road formerly occupied Pizza Express is gathering pace. The disappearance of Pizza Express is a reminder that, no so long ago, in October 2019, the Internet in Britain was awash with the same joke. Because it was rumoured that the entire Pizza Express business could fold, few could resist having fun with the fact that a folded pizza is called a 'calzone'. Hence many remarks on social media along these lines: "If Pizza Express folds, it will have to change its name to Calzone Express." So many in fact, that one twitter user posted: "Thank God I'd already told the kids we were having pizza for dinner tonight, otherwise I was gonna be texting my better half with "change of plan - after exposure to 1,057 Calzone Express jokes on Twitter I can only face one food tonight." Pizza Express did not die out completely, but last year closed a lot of branches - and the company remains on life support. However, the Heswall restaurant did become a calzone, giving Nova the chance to move into new, more central premises, which also have the advantage of several parking spaces immediately outside. Recently the restaurant which, in common with all indoor eateries, hopes to open on May 17th,* shared a sneak preview of the interior design work going on inside. Heswall Nub News is not a good judge of these matters, but the images, though a little cryptic, suggest the place won't be without a bit of thoughtful and eye-catching style. The response on Nova's Facebook page was large and highly enthusiastic - more than 100 very excited comments of support and anticipation.- NB: On this date, hospitality venues will be able to seat customers indoors; parties can be made up of a maximum of six people or two households of any size; groups seated outside must be smaller than 30 people.
