The first homes in a project set to change the face of Wirral have arrived

The first homes in a project set to change the face of Wirral have arrived.

The factory-built houses are part of Wirral Waters, a project led by Peel L&P which is set to provide 13,500 homes on the former Birkenhead docks over the next 25 years and potentially create up to 20,000 jobs.

Among the properties to have arrived at the East Float development within Wirral Waters are the first ever 'Row House' homes.

These houses, created by Urban Splash, stand out due to their distinct red cladding and are a tribute to the Victorian mews.

There will be 350 homes built at East Float, with residents set to move in from early spring next year.

Row House homes are available in three sizes; a two-bedroom, two-storey home, a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half storey home with a roof terrace, and the largest, a four-bedroom, three-storey home.

The homes were made at Urban Splash's factory in the East Midlands, before being delivered to Wirral by road.

Toby Brown, Urban Splash's senior sales manager, said: "We're absolutely delighted to deliver our first brilliantly-designed, precision manufactured homes to this new neighbourhood – including our first ever Row House homes.

"We've never created our Row House homes anywhere before so this is a great opportunity for buyers on the Wirral to be early adopters and secure themselves a home completely different to anything else on the market."

Other homes delivered to Wirral Waters include three-storey town houses, which potential buyers can customise to fit their needs.

The three-storey town houses offer options such as a five-bedroom house with home offices, a 'garden living' home with living space downstairs or 'loft living' with bedrooms on the ground floor and open plan living areas upstairs.

Future residents will benefit from a new park next to East Float.

Urban Splash calls the project "revolutionary" and claims Wirral Waters is transforming the old Wirral docks into one of the North West's best places to live, with Liverpool on the doorstep on one side and the parks, beaches and greenery of Wirral on the other.

Richard Mawdsley, director of development for Wirral Waters, said: "The arrival of these first homes at East Float is yet another significant example of progress at Wirral Waters.

"Together with the other developments along Northbank, we are creating a new mixed, sustainable neighbourhood – a community for all.

"These innovative homes will sit alongside new public realm, including pocket parks and dockside walkways, helping to support healthier communities with a focus on fresh air and active travel."
