A road in Bebington remains closed due to a police investigation into the death of the baby boy whose body was found on Brackenwood Golf Course.
The baby's body was discovered by two people walking their dogs on the Bracken Lane golf course at around 4.25pm on January 29.
It is thought the body may have been at the site for up to three weeks, as the course was closed during the ongoing lockdown.
Police also confirmed the baby was not clothed and there were no discernible or immediately obvious injuries to the child when he was found.
Wirral Council today issued an update on Twitter relating to road closures as a result of the ongoing police investigation.
The tweet read: "If you are travelling to Clatterbridge tip, please note that due to a Police investigation, Mount Road is closed between Bracken Lane and Brackenwood Road in both directions.
"Diversions are in place. Access from the M53 motorway is unaffected."
Commenting on their knowledge of the incident, detectives said yesterday that it is unclear if the baby was alive when he was brought to the golf course and that this may never be known.
The boy was found in a wooded area, off a fairway near to the Mount Road side of the complex.
But it was not particularly concealed or hidden, and the boy was not buried or left covered with any branches, twigs or leaves on top of him.
Suggestions made locally that a weapon was found nearby are also not true, police said.
Experts have determined the baby was full-term, but his age, or whether he was stillborn, remain unclear.
A premature birth has been ruled out and a post-mortem examination was completed yesterday afternoon, but it proved inconclusive in confirming a cause of death.
Speaking yesterday, Detective Chief Superintendent Lee Turner, of Merseyside Police, said: "Any death of a child is tragic, this is even more so due to the fact it's outside and we're unable to determine how long he's been there, and the cause of death is inconclusive until we do some more checks.
"We are keen to speak to mum for a number of reasons, to identify her safeguarding to make sure she's got any medical assistance she needs and for us to give us some detail as to how the baby has come to be where he is.
"It's off where the main golf course is, where the public footpath is alongside, in between one of the fairways and Mount Road, there's a wooded area, and the baby has been found there.
"It's a tragic event, the mum will undoubtedly be going through a very difficult period and will require some form of medical intervention."
