Police appeal following serious accident in Hoylake involving cyclist

Police are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Hoylake on Sunday, 14 August which has left a cyclist in a critical condition in hospital.

At around 3.45pm, emergency services were called to Meols Drive, close to the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, to reports of a collision involving a Renault Clio and a male cyclist in his 50s.

The road was closed while enquiries were carried out and the driver of the car stopped to assist.

Roads Policing Sergeant Amy Murray said: "We're continuing to investigate the circumstances behind this collision, which has left a man in a critical condition. His family are being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts go out to them at such a difficult time.

"As a matter of priority, we'd like to speak to anyone who was passing the golf club at around 3.45pm on Sunday afternoon, and has any images or footage from dashcam or other devices which may assist."
