On Tuesday we reported how Revolution 4, a digital marketing company, had decided to use its premises at Whitfield Business Hub on Pensby Road as a place where locals could deliver much needed supplies of essentials.
These would then be taken to Chester and, from there, to the Polish-Ukrainian border.
Back then the number of refugees was estimated at around 660,000. In the days that followed, as the murderous shelling of urban areas intensified, that figure is now believed to be well over one million.
Tragically, the wish list of much-needed items drawn up by the Polish-British Solidarity with Ukraine initiative includes many for babies and children: nappies, crayons, colouring books, teddies, soaps, towels, and more.
The generosity on display since the drop-off opened its doors has been extraordinary.
Nik Ellis, a director of Revolution 4, says: "It's been overwhelming. We've already taken three Transit vans full of stuff to the depot in Chester, with another load ready to go soon.
"We've had people literally queuing to get in, and are still happy to accept more donations, and apologies to anyone who had to wait a little while, but every gift will make a difference, especially to children and their mums.
"We are open between 9am and 5pm and are always delighted to help. It's been amazing, and we can't thank everyone enough for their kindness."
In response to the original story we received this message from a reader:
My father was Ukrainian and it is a very important part of my heritage...I am totally blown away from the generosity and compassion shown by British people to Ukraine. God bless you all. Ñ ðŸ'ðŸ™â¤
