What should have been an immersive and tense theatre experience for anyone who likes being spooked at Halloween has been forced to postpone until next year.
Off the Ground had planned a show which would place a mobile, walkthrough audience at the heart of an imaginary outbreak of a contagious disease and its consequences - namely scary people.
Within the walls of unused buildings at Pensby High School - imagined to have been abandoned following the catastrophe - ticket buyers would have been subjected to all manner of unexpected shocks.
Unfortunately for the young cast and crew, a real disease intervened this morning when a cast member tested positive for COVID-19 - and all involved received an unexpected shock of their own.
Off the Ground's Connor Wray said: "With our rehearsals in the school set as they were this week, there was no way around it and no time really to bring anyone else in. We are confident it will be back in 2022. We are aiming for February at the moment."
If being scared out of your wits is your definition of a good night out, then watch out for news of HOST early next year.
Alternatively, you could stand on the Devon Doorway roundabout this evening and watch the price of fuel from the Shell service station go up.
Bad luck to the innovative Off the Ground Theatre, and it goes without saying we wish the cast member who tested positive all the very best.
