New funding available to help community facilities re-open safely

By Mark Gorton 29th Jul 2021

Community and voluntary groups in Wirral are being invited to apply for grant funding of up to £5,000 to help them re-open their doors and welcome back the communities they serve.

With a total of £250,000 available from the borough's 'Social Sector Setting Road to Recovery Fund', a minimum of 50 local community groups are set to benefit from the new scheme.

The grants can be used towards a wide range of things to help 'third sector' groups re-open their facilities safely and get back to delivering vital services to their communities. This can include ventilation improvements, COVID-safety signage, and outdoor furniture and equipment.

The funding has been provided by the Government's Department for Work and Pensions as part of their COVID Winter Fund.

Grant funding cannot be used towards any spending already incurred and all funds must be spent by 31st August, 2021.

The deadline to make an application is 12 noon on Friday 23rd April, 2021.
