In the early hours of this morning teams from Cheshire Fire and Rescue were called out to Neston following a single car collision.

A silver saloon had collided with a garden wall on Marshlands Road, and the alarm was raised just after 3am.

Two fire engines were sent from Powey Lane and Ellesmere Port.

On arrival one person was found to be trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle, and firefighters were obliged to use specialist cutting equipment to release the occupant.

The rescue took around 30 minutes, whereupon the vehicle was made safe by the crews.
