Having recently moved back to her hometown of Heswall, former midwife Sara Tindall has set up a new, twice a week group for local mums and their babies.

Parents can meet others, and perhaps make valuable new friends, while their little ones are entertained and stimulated.

Sara says: "I trained as a midwife straight from school, qualifying in 2000. I absolutely loved supporting Liverpool mothers and their families and welcoming new life into the world.

When I met my partner in 2014 I moved away from the Wirral, but continued to work as a midwife supporting vulnerable families in Birmingham.

"During my career, and then following the birth of my eldest son in 2016, I became very aware of how isolated you can feel as a new mum, and the importance of support from other parents.

"Thankfully I found a local sensory and support baby group, 'Star Babies'. I got to know lots of new mums and I looked forward to my class every week.

"My second child was born just before the pandemic and so my maternity leave was very different from what I had planned!

"Like everyone, I had lots of time to think about what was important in life and again the situation really highlighted the importance of baby groups for both parents and babies and how necessary the support was during the postnatal period.

With this in mind, and the desire to have a job that is more family friendly, I made the decision to move back to the Wirral to be closer to my family and jumped at the chance to join the Star Babies family which I am bringing with me.

It has been a huge decision as I have loved every minute of my Midwifery Career, but I know it is the right one. I can't wait to use my experience and knowledge as both a midwife and a mum to support new parents in my new role."

The Star Babies classes are suitable from birth. They are sensory based and are friendly and informal, allowing time for parents to share stories and tips with each other. Each week there is a different theme to enjoy.

The classes will be running at Heswall Football Club just off Brimstage Road on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings for one hour. For those who don't know the club, there's plenty of parking to make young parents' lives that much easier.

No obligation taster sessions are available to book at the cost of a weekly session, which is £7.

To find out more and to book places, parents can call Sara on 07811450216, or visit the Star Babies website by clicking or tapping here - or find the group on Facebook, Star Babies Cheshire.
