Saturday was a beautiful sunny day for Rotary's Cool Heswall event as over 30 local environmental and eco-organisations and businesses gathered in central Heswall at Hill House Gardens and Heswall Hall.

The feeling of community was really apparent with stallholders exchanging information, helping each other and welcoming visitors of all ages.

There were free activities and information for all – doing a mini beach clean, decorating patches with environmental messages, playing a recycling game, testing knowledge of local flora and fauna, tasting some vegetarian soup and curry, selecting a free native tree to plant in a garden, making paper seed pots, checking out the latest models of electric vehicles, entering prize draws – and much more.

Entertainment throughout the day was provided by the Heswall Ukulele Group, Craig and Geoff's Music Duo, singers from Heswall Primary School and a great band of storytellers.

Heswall Honeys WI Group had been busy baking a delicious selection of homemade cakes, served with a welcome cuppa. Their cake sales made a fantastic £451 which will provide equipment for Wirral Hospice St Johns.

A band of Cool Heswall cyclists also made their way from the event across the Wirral. Hopefully they got spotted on their route!

The event was organised by the Joint Rotary Environment Group in Heswall, supported by members of the three local Rotary Clubs and members of the local community.

Rotary member Katherine Jenner was part of the organising committee and commented: "It was really great to see so many volunteers joining forces. As a community working together we can support each other and achieve so much more.

"Thank you to everyone who contributed and attended – we have had lots of positive feedback. We hope everyone enjoyed their time with us and have gone away inspired to make changes to help protect our environment and live our lives as sustainably as possible."

Cool Heswall was well attended
