Snap Fitness is the new 24/7 gym on The Mount (where Italia Lighting and then Taskers used to be).

To celebrate its arrival and the further relaxing of restrictions in June - fingers crossed - which will return gyms and elsewhere to something like normal, Snap has kindly agreed to offer some excellent prizes.

So how did Snap come to be in Heswall? The gym's co-owner and manager, George Wishart, explains:

"We are a family run business consisting of my dad, John, and his two sons, me and Mike. After working within the construction industry for many years, we decided to try an alternative route and get involved in the fitness industry as we wanted to work in a sector that supports people particularly with their health, both physical and mental, and general wellbeing.

"After a long time looking for the ideal location, we came across Heswall and fell in love with the area. The community vibe is something that we wanted to expand on in our gym, and we just knew it was the perfect location for us. There was so much going on in Heswall and we felt a great gym would be the final piece to complete such a thriving town."

The new business journey for George and family hasn't been easy. The idea for Snap came before the pandemic, but proposed launch dates ended up coinciding with it.

"The pandemic threw a lot of curveballs our way," explains George, "and the decision to keep going throughout recurring lockdowns was difficult, but we persevered and are so happy that we did. Although our opening got pushed back from January to April and our build was interrupted several times we knew the end product would be worth it.

"If anything it increased our drive as we wanted to offer Heswall and the local area the space where people could come and train once lockdowns had lifted in a safe and healthy environment, and get themselves fit and well for brighter days to come."
