Car park at Wirral Country Park to be given a makeover

By Mark Gorton 2nd Sep 2021

Improvement work to surface the overflow car park at Wirral Country Park and create 'all-weather' parking starts next week.

The popularity of local beauty spots the Wirral Way and Thurstaston beach increased during COVID-19 restrictions meaning the grass overflow car park has been more heavily used.

The work will include installing all-weather surfacing for 90 car parking spaces.

Work will start on 6 September and is expected to take up to five weeks.

The overflow car park will be closed to visitors whilst this work is completed, although the main Visitor Centre car park will still be open.

Visitors to Wirral Country Park and the Thurstaston area during September and October can access parking facilities at Thurstaston Hill on the A540, the Wirral Way car park in Caldy, or at the start of the Wirral Way in West Kirby in the car park by the Concourse Leisure Centre.

Works are funded by Wirral Council's Capital Programme.
