Appeal for information and CCTV images following serious assault in Upton

By Mark Gorton 15th Mar 2022

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage following an assault in Upton on Saturday night.

At around 5.50pm, emergency services were called to Church Lane after a man was found unconscious in the street after being assaulted.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries. He is now in a serious but stable condition, which are not believed to be life threatening at this stage.

It was reported that prior to this incident, there was an altercation in the Arrowe Park pub on Arrowe Park Road which allegedly involved a number of males and may be connected to the assault.

An investigation is underway including witness, CCTV and forensic enquiries which are being carried out in the local area.

Detective Inspector Emma Kerrigan said: "Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish what has taken place.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area of Church Lane and in the Arrowe Park pub at around 5.30pm onwards to please come forward and help with our enquiries, as your evidence could be vital to the investigation.

"I would also appeal to drivers and people with CCTV in the area who might have captured something on their dash cam and CCTV to come forward and speak to us."

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 817 of 12 March.
