On Monday, re-opening day, we spoke to Sue Porter as she prepared to welcome back customers to her independent book shop, complete with new look cafe.

After taking over Linghams, Sue worked hard to make the store one of the most important places for publishers to launch books outside London.

The successful candidate will join a friendly team and earn a competitive salary.

The main objective will be to work as a bartender, but the new team member will be adaptable to normal restaurant service.

Shabil Syed hopes to break the mould in Wirral Council on May 6.

It is believed that Mr Syed, 40, from Prenton, will be the first ever BAME (black, asian and minority ethnic) councillor elected to the local authority if he wins his contest in this year's local elections.

Almost three years ago, Heswall Police Station on Telegraph Road was placed on the market by the Merseyside Police Crime and Commissioner's Office.

This left us speculating on what would become of one of Heswall's few distinctive buildings - designed by the respected architect Harry Beswick, with a facade that, in its own way, is a key feature of the town.

To celebrate International Women's Day today, Wirral Council is spotlighting the fantastic sporting achievements of Charlotte 'Lottie' Dod, the five times Wimbledon winner who was born and lived in Bebington, and whose achievements have recently been commemorated with a prestigious blue plaque.

Lottie Dod (1871–1960) was best known as a tennis player though she excelled in many other sports, including golf, hockey and archery.
