Above: this photo is a clue to the answer.

If we open the imaginary doors to the Heswall Hall of Fame, whom might we find inside?

Well, for starters:

Lord Ian Botham, born here in 1955 and famous for some extraordinary innings, none arguably better than his 118 off just 102 balls in the 5th Ashes Test at Emirates Old Trafford in 1981.

Resident top flight referee, Mike Dean, who spends most of his time officiating Premier League games, but supports League Two Tranmere Rovers with a passion that knows no bounds.

John Peel, born John Ravenscrof in Heswall Cottage Hospital in 1939, began his long radio DJ career on pirate music stations before joining the BBC. His shows, like the Peel Sessions, helped bring bands such as The Undertones, The Smiths, Nirvana, Half Man Half Biscuit and The Fall to a wider audience.

A trip back to the late 19th century conjures up Bebington-born Lottie Dod. She became the youngest ever winner of the Wimbledon Ladies Singles Championship when she achieved her triumph in 1887 at the age of 15 years and 285 days. She won the singles title five times between 1887 and 1893.

However, based on Wikipedia data, the strangely addictive interactive People Map of the UK reveals that none of the above occupy Heswall's 'Most Searched For' top spot - which instead belongs to newscaster and presenter Fiona Bruce.

The map helpfully links users to subjects Wiki pages, which includes this reference to Fiona's Early Life: "Bruce was born in Singapore, to an English mother and a Scottish father, who had worked his way up from being a postboy to become regional managing director of Unilever. She has two elder brothers. She was educated at Gayton Primary School in Wirral, the International School of Milan, and then from the age of 14 until 18 attended Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College in New Cross, London. During the latter period she modelled for the stories in the teenage girls' magazine, Jackie."
