Fourteen daring employees from leading North West-based law firm SAS Daniels leapt from dizzying heights for a charity skydive, raising funds for The Christie at Macclesfield Centre.

The centre provides cancer treatment for patients from Cheshire, the High Peak area of Derbyshire, and parts of North Staffordshire.

A challenge not for the faint-hearted, the 14 employees jumped out of a plane from up to 15,000 ft at Black Knights Parachute Centre in Lancashire.

For their courageous endeavour, the firm exceeded its fundraising target for The Christie charity, reaching a staggering total of over £11,000, which will go towards the funding of care and treatment, research, education, and extra patient services.

Seeking to have a positive impact on its surrounding areas and the people living and working within them, every year SAS Daniels nominates a local charity to support with fundraising efforts for the next 12 months.

The charity selected by the business this year was a very poignant choice, as the wife of SAS Daniels' partner Paul Tyrer is currently receiving palliative care at The Christie's facility in Macclesfield.

Jeremy Orrell, chief executive officer of SAS Daniels commented: "We are immensely proud of the team for pushing themselves so far out of their comfort zone and taking on this challenge for such a worthy cause; one which is very close to our hearts.

"Through the skydive, an incredible amount of funds has been raised for The Christie, the amazing work of which is supporting Paul's family and many others through very difficult times."

Lisa Clark, corporate fundraising manager at The Christie charity, added: "We've never had such a large turnout from one company before to do the skydive.

"The weather was amazing, and it was great to meet so many of the team and their supporters on the day. They smashed the target they'd set themselves. They should all be super proud of what they've achieved so far. I'm looking forward to supporting them all with their fundraising over the coming year."
