West Kirby will reveal its Christmas lights on Saturday at the Concourse. The town always makes a good job of festive illuminations, so maybe you'd like to head there.

Fun for all the family begins at 4:30pm with music, rides and stalls before the big turn-on at 6.30pm.

West Kirby Primary School children will be singing carols.

The lights are funded through donations, street collections and lamp post sponsorship by local residents and businesses, organised by volunteers from West Kirby Christmas Lights.

Rachel Kehoe from West Kirby Christmas Lights told West Kirby Today: "We are very excited about our switch-on event this Saturday.

"We have lots of fun in store, including children's rides, toys, refreshments and live music.

"We are very lucky that Santa is joining us all the way from Lapland to switch on the lights with Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Jeff Green.

"Children can meet Santa and give him their letters in the grotto in Home Instead.

"We hope to see you all there!"

Last week we reported how residents of Heswall and district can help the plucky volunteers of Light Up Heswall give West Kirby a run for its money.

This week has seen some of them bravely ascending ladders to wrap lights around trees.

The great Heswall switch on will happen at 5.30pm on Friday the 25th of November outside Heswall Hall and Heswall Library.
