Which is why we decided to occasionally highlight a great local attraction.

Our first outing took us to Heswall Golf Club.

Thornton Hall Hotel is a four-star family-owned business, set in beautiful and expansive gardens in one of Wirral's most attractive villages, Thornton Hough, former seat of the Leverhulme family.

The hotel has built up a fine reputation for service and hospitality, providing excellent food in the award-winning and 3 AA Rosette restaurant, mentioned in the Michelin Guide 2016.

Thornton Hall Hotel has won numerous World Spa Awards, and was not so long ago awarded the 5 Bubble status from the prestigious Good Spa Guide, and also won the 'Best Luxury Beauty Spa' in the World Luxury Spa Awards.

The hotel has also been named 'North West Asian Wedding Venue of the Year'.

The hotel's Health Club and Spa has a great 20 metre heated indoor pool, fitness suite, spa-pool, steam and sauna rooms, snow cave, and exterior hot tubs.

The pool can be used by accompanied children 6 years old and above - however times of use are restricted for health and safety reasons.

For further indulgence during your stay, there is also a Beauty and Hair spa, providing a stunning selection of full-body treatment using the best products.

The Torintone Suite adds a purpose built conference and function facility capable of accommodating 650 delegates in a number of possible layouts.
