Linghams booksellers brings online book events to local primary and secondary school children this week

It's World Book Day on Thursday, and this week Linghams, part of the At home with Kids 4 Indies book network, has three varied online sessions aimed at younger readers.
They feature authors Chris Ryan (tomorrow), Lisa Williamson and Elle McNicoll (both on Friday March 5th).
These events are for schools only, ideal for locked down youngsters who enjoy a good and thought provoking read, and who may also wish to sharpen their creative writing skills by interacting with experienced and inspiring writers, like:
ASSASSIN by CHRIS RYAN - Tuesday March 2nd, 1.30pm
Hook up with the former SAS commander turned young people's author Chris as he talks about his action packed adventure, 'Assassin', a novel inspired by his own experiences in the Special forces.Darius, son of an escaped Iranian scientist, is a pupil at an exclusive Swiss school, but his father's former bosses want him back and have no regard for the boy's life or his freedom. The Special Forces Cadets are sent to protect him.
When the assassins launch a deadly attack, our heroes' only escape is into the mountains. Pursued by their enemies, can the cadets triumph and survive the deadly natural hazards of an alpine winter? This event is aimed at pupils in years 8 & 9 and schools will be asked to purchase a minimum of ten books to take part. This is an exciting opportunity to meet and listen to neurodivergent author, ElleMcNicoll, as she talks about her latest book 'Show Us Who You Are'.
Elle's first highly praised and award-winning book, 'A Kind of Spark', was named Blackwell's Children's Book of the Year 2020, and was shortlisted for the Blue Peter book award. Both books feature neurodivergent characters - Elle is a passionate advocate for greater representation in children's books. This event is aimed at pupils in years 5, 6, 7 & 8, and schools will be asked to purchase a minimum of ten books to take part.
